Wintertime in Ohio

"Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow"
Yes, it's a crisp 18 degrees...Fahrenheit. If you don't know what that means,
go here ---> http://www.wbuf.noaa.gov/tempfc.htm Type 18 in the box marked "F". It's cold! But with the cold comes beautiful blankets of snow :-) Here are some pictures I took, as well as video, if I can figure out how to attach them.

Ohio is circled with yellow and the red dot is Akron (Where my uni is). Adam Hendricks is in Wisconsin, which is between 3 and 9 degrees F. That is the coldest point in the U.S. today!

Walking to the radio station at 2:00 pm. That's not the radio station though...it's the sports arena. It just happened to be where I was looking at the time.

The University of Akron has its own plows to clear the sidewalks (footpaths). And a massive supply of salt to melt the ice and provide friction so we don't slip! Alex: If you're reading this...how do they deal with snow in London?
After work at Starbucks, I go up to the radio station where my friend, Nick, is finishing his DJ shift. Video of us walking to his car at Midnight.

A common instance when trekking through the snow. AND because we walk through salt on the sidewalk, the pants will dry but have white rings where the salt diffused through the denim. Lovely isn't it?

The road...yeah - it's under there somewhere! Hopefully the plows will come through tomorrow morning so cars don't slide too much. Accidents happen frequently in Wintertime Ohio.

My last look outside before I go to sleep. Considering it has been snowing for the past 10 hours, this isn't that bad. There have been times where it has snowed for 5 hours and we got a meter of snow!
***I hope you enjoyed today's snow! I know I did***

Nevermind about Chase the dog...

The day after that blog my roommate was going to take him to the vet and get him checked for healthiness, but he hasn't come back yet. We have left food out on the porch all last week and he came back to eat it once. We'll see. I just hope his owners treat him alright.

Random Ramblings of a Raving Rascal

I miss Australia, but I have animals in the U.S. to keep me occupied...

Our new dog Chase. He's been wandering up to our house for the past few days and we are slowly gaining his trust. We got him some food and a chewbone. My roommate Shawna is going to take him to the vet tomorrow (hopefully she can get him in the car) to make sure he's healthy.

He looks about 3-4 years old, he has a chain collar on him, and he doesn't look or smell like he's been homeless for too long. His temperment seems to be good as well. He let us pet him today and he 1/2 wagged his tail a few times. You can tell he is a bit malnourished and he is scared of people and noises. We have our old sofas on the porch and he's been sleeping on them all day. I'll let you know if we get to keep "Chase" and if he gets a bit happier.

**We named him Chase after the Australian doctor on the show House. He's, without a doubt, the cutest character on that show! Of course, it could be the accent that makes him that cute. I think he was also on Neighbours, but I never watched that show (Jesse Spencer).

Ah yes, there was some controversy on my myspace page. My roommate, Megan, left me this...
"im sorry...thought of you when i saw this!!"
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I was pissed off and I left a response for her...(using one of her pictures)
"I'm sorry, this is what I thought of...No one makes fun of Steveo and gets away with it!"

I bit harsh - but I don't think it's funny to joke about him dying. He built his entire life around those animals and he did so much for Australia. His passion for life and his work was astounding and he'll definitely be missed. As far as I'm concerned, Australia Zoo will always be the home of the Crocodile Hunter.

And I'm American...

This probably shouldn't make me laugh but it does...

1.) Go to http://www.google.com
2.) Type in Failure
3.) Look at it and laugh at what comes up first
4.) Tell other people before the people at Google Fix it

Luke told me to make a list of all the movies everyone should see before they die.

DISCLAIMER: It is my complete understanding that everyone has different tastes in movies. This list is composed entirely of movies that I have viewed, some of which are viewed annually or semi-annually. I also understand that my choices may be biased as I have a comedic mind that needs to be fed by, what may seem to be, some absurd films. They are not listed in any rank or order so there is no need to feel offended because one movie is mentioned before another. I am aware that some movies have alternate titles in Australia so if you have never heard of a movie, that may be why. Luke; if these choices do not appease you, go ahead and make your own list and next time do your own dirty work.

*I forgot Napoleon Dynamite on purpose because I enjoy the character, but it needs a plot! I have seen it though, so I can quote it like the rest of the world.*

Rambunction (That could be a word for it)

Who would've thought that I could hire 2 henchmen, who will remain nameless (Pita and Mathieu), and kidnap the Aussie of my choice? Via MSN!

I had hit the voice messenger button by accident during a convo with Pita. A few minutes later I heard his voice through my computer. After I recovered from the shock of hearing Pita in Ohio, and in my house for that matter, I ran up to my room to retrieve my headset. I don't remember the next 20 or 30 minutes because I was laughing really hard and I think I blacked out a couple of times. I'm just constantly amazed how easy it is to talk to you people (not "you people" like you would rudely say when addressing someone of a particular race, but "you people" as in Student Lifers as I assume you will be the only people reading this...if anyone reads it at all! According to some people I'm not missed. But that's mean - very, very mean.)

Back to it...Mathieu pestered Pita by saying, "The thing is, if you don't have a shower you'll stink."

Pita presented a disclaimer for the shower and sang "Hit Me Baby One More Time" by Britney Spears, which was odd because his voice is more appropriately set for the Backstreet Boys. Imitating Forrest - Forrest Gump he said, "I gotta pee," and was off to continue his momentary diva status in the shower.

Meanwhile, I talked to Mathieu (Initially pretending to be unenthusiastic, but suddenly becoming intrigued with my insane plan) and we decided on an innocent victim for my Friday night revenge. I decided it's revenge because I'm so bored I don't know what to do with myself, so SOMEONE MUST PAY! So here's where my ordinary Aussies become henchmen and make an appearance in the story. We thought about kidnapping Jim Rawson, but NO that would be too obvious. We needed a victim so distracted, so oblivious that the colour of orange juice would be a like breaking news.

ANNOUNCER: Will their plan succeed? Will Jennifah get the nonsensical revenge she is demanding and be able to sleep without feeling like Friday, July 28th was a complete waste?!

TO BE CONTINUED...

MySpace

I'm irritated with myspace because lately (maybe just in the U.S. since Gloria has had no problems with it) it has been undergoing heaps of maintenance and it won't let you load some of the important pages like messages and the message board of your friends. All I want to do is waste time by leaving charming little anecdotes and quotes from "Titanic" (actually the trilogy in 4 parts) for my friends to laugh at. It's quite a lot cheaper than flying to Brisbane to tell these things to people. But, myspace stinks for other reasons as well.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My friend George tried to make a page and they wouldn't let him because he was under 14 years of age. Gloria was very upset about that. But - at least I can put his picture up here.
